The T-54 and T-55 are for all intents and purposes the the same tank. The difference lies in the shape of the turret. The T-55 has a oblate domed turret for which the later T-54s and T-55s are recognized. The older T-54 has a dome-shaped ventilator on the front right of the turret that you don’t see on later tanks and all T-55s.
