Features
World War II Fighter Icon
The Messerschmitt Bf-109E “Emil” served as Germany’s premier single-engine fighter during the early years of WWII, earning a formidable reputation across Europe, the Mediterranean, and North Africa. By 1942, Bf-109E-7 fighters were redeployed to support German forces after setbacks at El Alamein, bringing battle-tested performance to the harsh desert environment.
The aircraft reproduced here, marked S9+DR, belonged to 7./ZG 1 and received a rapid field-applied sand camouflage upon arrival in Libya. Its right wing, left in its original green finish, is a historically documented anomaly—likely the result of limited paint, time pressure, or a replacement wing. S9+DR was later lost during a strafing mission near Fuka, Egypt, making its asymmetric desert scheme one of the most recognizable Bf-109 examples of the campaign.
This Hobby Master model authentically recreates this unique appearance with precise paint application, engraved panel lines, an opening canopy, cockpit instrumentation, and optional landing gear, offering collectors a historically rich centerpiece for any WWII aircraft display.
