The Boeing EA-18G Growler is a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft derived from the F/A-18F Super Hornet. Entering service in 2009, the EA-18G replaced the EA-6B Prowler and remains the Navy’s frontline electronic attack platform, with Australia also fielding 12 aircraft. By 2014, 100 had been built, with combat-proven capabilities in jamming radar and disabling communications.
This Hobby Master 1:72 model represents bureau number 166921 of VAQ-141 “Shadowhawks” during their 2013 deployment aboard USS George Washington. The Shadowhawks, established in 1988, transitioned from the EA-6B to the EA-18G in 2011 and continue to support global operations, from the Arabian Gulf to the Western Pacific.
