The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, often known as the “Warthog,” was designed specifically for close air support of ground forces, emphasizing survivability, firepower, and loiter time over the battlefield. Built around the formidable GAU-8/A Avenger 30mm cannon, the A-10 could destroy armored vehicles with devastating accuracy.
