Historical Report: The Roman Triumph

TheTriumph(triumphus) was a civil ceremony and religious rite of ancient Rome, held to publicly celebrate and sanctify the success of a military commander who had led Roman forces to victory. The commander, known as atriumphator, rode in a circular chariot drawn by four horses (thequadriga) through the streets of Rome to the Temple of Jupiter on the Capitoline Hill. This COBI set replicates the two-horse version (biga), often used for officials and elite representation within the Eternal City.
