Strike Fighter Squadron 94 (VFA-94), also known as the Mighty Shrikes, is a United States Navy fighter squadron stationed at Naval Air Station Lemoore. It is an operational fleet squadron currently flying the F/A-18F Super Hornet. It is attached to Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW 17) and based at NAS Lemoore, California. Its tail code is “NA” and its radio call sign is “Hobo”.
On April 27, 2020, the USS Nimitz, accompanied by VFA-94 “Mighty Shrikes” and other squadrons, embarked on what would become the longest deployment since the Vietnam War, lasting 321 days. Throughout this deployment, they traversed the Western Pacific, North Arabian Sea, and the Arabian Gulf before finally returning home in February 2021. In August 2015, VFA-94 conducted its final flight with the F/A-18C aircraft and commenced transitioning to the two-seat F/A-18F. Among the VFA-94 aircraft was F/A-18F 168929, designated msn F-275, which served as the CAG aircraft. Notably, this aircraft displayed a cryptic word on its spine: “SHWFOTS,” representing “Sh*t Hot World-Famous Orange Tailed Shrikes!”
This Hobby Master model is replica of Boeing F/A-18F “NA 200” Bureau Number 168929 of Strike Fighter Squadron 94 (VFA-94) “Mighty Strikes” painted in the CAG aircraft livery as part of Carrier Air Wing 17 during deployment aboard USS Nimitz (CVN-68) in 2020/21.
