The Hawkwr Typhoon was originally designed as an interceptor, butits poor performance and structural failures of the rear fuselage ataltitudes 20,000 feet almost ended its service at the start.
Variouschanges were made to save this program. In late 1942, equipped withfour 20mm Hispano cannon, external bomb load of up 2,000 lbs., and mostimportantly, the improved Sabre IIA engine, the Typhoon prooved that itcould outperform the fighter-bombers in the Luftwaffe at low-levelaltitudes.
In 1943, the Typhoon IB “Tiffy” was fitted with abubble canopy to provide the pilot with unobstructed rear view. Itsunsurpassed speed combined with the firing power of rocket projectilesmade “Tiffy” an integral part of the Allied fighter-bomber group. TheTyphoon’s continuous low-level attacks on shipping and armored divisionscontributed to the success on D-Day.

  • Fully engraved pannel lines and rivet detail.
  • Optional position canopy and landing gear door.
  • Highly detailed cockpit interior and landing gear bay.
